I didn't know about the history of guns-by-mail, but, with this revision
by USPS, it effectively ends some restrictions that were in effect since
1927. Guns are still prohibited from being delivered to non-licensees,
which means that, in most cases, those who fail to pass a background check
cannot receive a gun by mail.
The downside of this is that it could work around some local laws, but the
upside is that this may set a precedent for arguing that abortion
medications could be sent through the mail legally.
